The Incubator Thread

ok, so as most of you probably know, i have set some eggs and am doing the dry method, and they're due of easter sunday(easter). but i have a problem: im going away on the 'lockdown' day, so is there any cahnce that i can go in lockdiwn the day before i go away, cos i wont be there to put the humidity and water into my bator,

thanks for any advice!! :D

I'm not sure, do you have a neighbour, friend or family member you could trust to do it for you?

I went away 5 days before my eggs were due to hatch- and came back 2 days after the hatch- I had 11 eggs and put food and some water in the homemade bator. when I got back 7/11 hatched the other 4 looked like they stopped developing on day 18 or the chicks pushed them away from the light. they found food/water on their own and they were fine.

so what did you do about putting the humditiy up and adding water??

I've hatched a hundred or so in my foam incubator from TSC. I bought the basic turner also. The only problem I have that it is near impossible to fill water reservoir and egg next to motor don't hatch

Are modern incubators easy on electric?

I have a really old one and it eats electric like nobodies business.

Hi, we just had an awesome first hatch, but now I'm trying to clean my incubator. We have a Brinsea 40, and the trays, yellow base, and most of the clear plastic top are no problem at all.

But, the inside of the clear plastic "top"- the compartment with all the electrical components, fans, and wiring, is covered in tiny feathers. It's all screwed together and looks like the wiring is attached to both parts (inner cover and outer cover that make up the compartment). Has anybody run into this issue? How do I clean the tiny feathers out and keep them from clogging the fans, sensors, etc since I can't actually get into that part of the incubator without pulling it apart???
