From the picture I can not tell with any degree of certainty if that is a Khaki or not. But, it is a good looking duck. And, it is definitely a male. So you are going to need additional females. The standard suggested ration for ducks is one drake to every 4-6 females at a minimum. A one to one ration can result in a female being overbred and injured. As for keeping your duck with your chickens...there are those who have success doing that and those that do not. The important thing is to be sure the drakes are not trying to mate with your chickens. That can result in serious injury to your chickens since anatomically chickens are not made to be penetrated when mated with.
here is the Khaki I recently purchased at the swap meet, I was told definately a male..but I had to have it..I love the color and was planning on getting a pair of buff Orphs...but i fell in love!!!........NOW MY PROBLEM...I have a "bonded" pair of Blue Swedish and of course only one female to my 2 males.....I do plan to get a female (or 2) this summer BUT will the 2 males every be able to get along? Right now I am keeping them seperate, as the Blue Swede trys to kill him anyway he can!! We have a fairly large acreage and I let them free range with the chickens (which I had to isolate him from the hens for a while) so the 2 males are not crowded for space however, the swedish won't let the Khaki near the pond so I now take turns penning them...
Mainly I will have problems housing the ducks at night as I close them in with the chickens and everyone is in the same shed...will this be a problem? right now I have the Khaki seperated at night, but if i get more ducks will they be able to be housed all together..
I had a Blue Swedish male as well as a Khaki male with my first group of ducks and finally had to get rid of the Swedish drake since he was so violent with the Khaki male. I don't know if this is a Swedish trait or not but you may want to keep them apart...even when you have adequate females.
