Hey there KC People! I made a thread but figured I'd ask here too: how soon after hatch did your KCs return to laying? The babies here are 2 weeks + 3days old and today Mom laid an egg! Unbelievable!

And in regards to the sex linked colors, yes, I think that is true. The Dusky gene, I'm thinking of. There was a really thorough old thread on the genetics here. Very informative.

I now see what people mean when they say ducks grow so fast! I can already see a difference in their size from when I got them on Friday!

They are still the cutest things ever!

Costelloronnie-- your drake does look a bit heavier than mine, but I think he's quite nice. My drake's head is not nearly as dark, either. Personally I wouldn't worry about the white. I don't think he's got the Rouen look, tho, except maybe what looks to me a little bit like wing bars. But I do think he looks nice.

Are you planning on breeding or showing?

thanks for all yer replys. im goin breeding them.im starting up my own duck hatchery in ireland very hard to get ducks here so i decided to set up my own hatchery.would be grateful for any advice on starting a hatchery or what breeds i should keep?

I ordered a female khaki Campbell duck and a male duck from the hatchery. One of them had black legs and the other one had brown legs.. The one with black legs died at 4 days old;( so I went to the feed store and got 2 pekin ducklings to keep the brown legged duck company. If the duckling has brown legs, does that mean it's a girl or boy? Or does it mean anything? Thanks! (I will post a picture of the ducks)
