Khakis are a shy, nervous duck that lay lots of eggs. They will get used to being around you. Mine come running/swimming at top speed when they see me with their feeder or a head of lettuce but they don't let me get close enough to touch them. You can try sitting on the ground/floor and offer treats such as lettuce and see if you can eventually get them to eat out of your hand.
In my little (incubated) flock, all seven of them followed me around the garden as they would a mother duck and when I sat or lay down they'd be all over me, fitting into curves and warm corners of crossed-legs and curves of my neck. As they became older, they were more stand-offish...now at as young adults they show no fear will eat out of my hand...tolerate being picked up but not really 'into' it lol. I actually find my Pekins, raised similarly, less o.k about being handled...not fearful but they struggle if I pick them up. I wonder if there arena cuddly breed of ducks?
