The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Pics
Well I haven't had no eggs in 4 days from my campbell's, but i had a lil tiny egg in my muscovy dog house this morning, no bigger than a quarter and so cute. So maybe my muscovy has laid her 1st egg.

Yes I did wonder if she had a bit of SIlver Appleyard or extra Rouen but the person I go them off only had KC's and Pekins (pekin's were females only I think) I don't know much about ducks but have read a bit about sex linked KC's, are they maybe these?

Was not meaning they were maybe Pekin X but that they didn't have any Appleyard or Rouen breeds there, the more I look at pic's of those breeds the more I think she is a X

A quick question, what time of year do they usually moult?

We love our Khaki Campbells - my son got a pair for 4-H last summer. The duck has been laying all winter - outdoing our chickens!

I just wish they weren't so messy. We'll have to figure out a better set-up for next winter - it's a skating rink out there.

Pretty birds. Yes, ducks are messy but they are such a joy to own and beneficial in other ways. Enjoy the eggs!

My ducks are 13 wks old. I have 4kc hens, 4 white layers hens, 2 buffs hens, 1 white layer drake. They need to be incorporated into the bigger coop because the girls are getting very loud. We're in the country but our neighbors aren't that far away. My only problem is that I feed my chickens layer pellets. I know I won't be able to keep the ducks out of it. Do you think it would harm them if I switched over to strictly layer pellets? It would make my life much easier and hopefully quieter. The other option is to build another coop on the opposite side of the property but it wouldn't be as safe because we can't afford to buy the supplies. My hubby wasn't to keen of the idea either.

If the protein content is 16 or 18, it will be fine to have everything ln the layer pellets. I have mine on crumbles, just because It seems like my ducks can eat those easier. I also have small ducks though. I have all my birds, except for quail, on a layer diet. Mines 16 percent and they're healthy and happy.

My chickens were on layer pellets over the summer and my ducks got into them all time. I don't feed my ducks anything different than I feed my chickens.
