Not quite as big as yours, but this is the size of eggs that I used to get from an ex battery hen:

Sadly this hen developed egg peritonitis from which she did not recover.

I get a huge egg like that everyday almost. I thought they would be double or triple yoked eggs everytime there was one that huge but one morning when I made breakfast I was shocked there was only one yolk in this particular egg. Last month I had a double yoker hatch on its own in my incubator. When I got up there were 4 chicks and only 3 empty egg shells. Those chicks are growing with no problems. I have placed others in my incubator though (double yokes) that wasn't even fertile.

What are Britain hens? I've never heard of those - and I'm in Britain!

I got one of those also, the size of a goose egg or bigger, wouldn't even fit in the egg carton, wouldn't even try to close!
There was ALOT of clucking in the coop before I checked on eggs...could this one be the culprit?
The next day one less egg for the count, must of tired her out!
