I walked 2 miles today with my neighbor and we are going again in the morning!!! Quite an accomplishment for me because of health reasons... long VERY boring story... but it felt really good and I am sure I was imagining it, but I was a little less fluffy when I put my uniform on tonight

Best vacation... It's a tie.

1988: BF (eventual DH) and I took a summer between semesters in college and drove around the US in our pickup truck. We put a big old plywood inbetween the campershell and the walls of the bed and put a big foam cushion and slept on top and all the stuff underneath. We drove all the way down to Florida.. all the way up the East coast into Quebec and back down through Niagara falls and across the Northern States. It was so incredible.. We slept in truck stops showered under spigots at rest stops and it was amazing.

2005 We celebrated my surviving cancer and DH (ex) parent's 50th anniversary with the WHOLE extended family (16 of us) on a 10 cruise to Alaska. It was so amazing. It was an incredible experience and Alaska is my all time favorite place in the whole world. The food was astounding the side trips were amazing the scenery was breathtaking and unimaginable. It was a miracle.

Ok Stef.. the challenge is on... what am I thinking tomorrows question is going to be?????

I love vacations! I like seeing and doing new things, trying foods, and seeing my kids react to what we are seeing and doing. This spring break we did short trips (up to 4 hours of driving) and saw a lot of new territory including a state park with alligators and wild pigs (they had piglets!). That being said, about a year and a half ago we went to the beach for a long weekend. Fifteen years in Texas and it was our first trip to the beach. My sister and BIL from Alaska joined us in a rented condo. The condo was large and comfortable, but the best part was just relaxing, and hanging out with good company. So often of vacation we try to cram in hiking, site seeing, and touristy stuff that the actual relaxation gets missed. For that vacation, the busiest part was deciding what we were going to eat. We walked on the beach, hung out in the pool, drank a lot of Corona, had coffee on the balcony overlooking the beach, watched the full moon on the water and just relaxed. So that is one of my best vacations.

What is the best vacation you have ever taken?

I can't answer this easily because most of my vacations have been great.
First one would be when DH and I got married. Our vacation started in San Francisco then we checked out a lot of the SF area, and then we drove over the Sierra's saw Lake Tahoe, and ended up in Reno for a few days. Then we drove back to San Fransisco and stayed a couple of more days. We had a car with a thermometer, and I remember being amazed at how much the temps changed. From like 70 to 100 to 80 to 70 to 75 in just hours! So many different climates in just a short time. I would have to say that was one of the best vacations I have ever had.

Now that we have children, our vacations are very relaxed, hanging on the beach or by the pool, eating fried foods, walking up and down touristy streets with lots of shops. Going to Falmouth MA and watching family movie night in the park. All great and a lot of fun.

One year my Grandmother took My then so and I on a trip to mexico. We drove. That woman had no fear! We entered at Laredo spent the night in a tiny hotel in nuevo Laredo. Might I say a rather riccity place. Of course murphys law followed our every move. A tornado broke out the hotel windows, ripped the hotel sign off the bldg( which was mounted by our rooms window ). We decided of course to leave there and plotted a course to Monterrey. My grandmother when she was young , was hired as a school teacher on Pierce Ranch, to teach the children of the vaqueros. She had a great love for the mexican people and culture. Google Shanghi Pierce, it is interesting. So.......... we stopped at every small market, stopped to talk to people in Donkey pulled carts, bought beautiful quartz rocks in coke can folded flats made by hand sold by small children. When we got to Monterrey we went to the jewerly factory (artisans hand making jewerly) in a large building. Then we went to a saddle and tack store. Amazing work! Came away with beautiful gold and garnet ring and a saddle second to none. We ate at small out of the way places, she tried to find where the locals ate, One place stands out, it was very small , dirt floors with cabrito (goat) on a rotissere on the pit, pot of beans and tortillas bottle of coke. One of the most memorable meals of my life. We left there for Saltillo where we saw some of the most beautiful Catholic Churches you can imagine. We left there and came up to Piederas Negras , where we were told by federales to not stop until we got to the border for any reason,( or I would be kidnapped) no problem,no stopping. At the border crossing we were told not to stop on the american side either because they were having drug wars (this was in 1977). All in all it was a trip of a life time full of fun mystery and intrigue. Thank you Nono!

OMG! you guys have really been busy! I just read the post from page #40 - #61 Whew! I hope there still is a place at the table. I need to sit down and try to find out, what was the last question I answered? I feel like it has been a month at least!.

My computer was doing all kinds of strange things, after we hooked up four computers to my hub. Router going crazy. If I turn off my computer, I have to reset the router Each Time!

I made hay while the sun was shining. XDH, hired a Teenager that lives in the area, to help move and or rebuild the packing crates. The one that I wanted to use for my coop, no go as it was nailed together. So, he had enough sides, backs, roofs and bottoms to build me one. They got a load of rocks spread and leveled. Blocked up. I got the inside scrubbed and disinfected. I was all set to paint yesterday. Not a handle for a paint roller to be found! I looked 3 times and gave up. I'll just have to wait until next trip to town.

Hello, to everyone!

Happy belated birthday Steff, I'm glad you had a well spent great day.

I will try to catch up.

PK, walking is a really great thing to do. I like distance walking. That is how I got into Marathon's, in the first place. Lots of time to think and cast out toxics from body and mind. Not to mention weight control. The baby fat will melt away into your correct body weight. It is not an overnight thing. it is a lifestyle thing. If I did not have someone to go with me. I would always have God with me.

Thanks Pati! Sadly, I couldn't walk the past day or two, because I had to watch my bros all day.

Pati, great to see you! I was about to send out a search party!

You are busy, as always! Cool!

Micah, that vacation sounds like an action movie. Wow! Crazy stuff.

PK, I am going to put on my hiking boots and get my patootie up the hill. I have put this off for too long. On your mark, get set, GO!

Best vacation... I was going to say my honeymoon cruise to Alaska...
but i think that i'm going to go with a 2 week long camping trip we took a couple of years ago. We stayed for 1 week in Vermont in a beautiful secluded campsite..(all to ourselves!) with a river nearby..it was very peaceful and quiet..
and for the second week we moved the camper to a campsite on the Mohawk Trail, here in Ma. It was a family friendly place with lots for the kids to do..
This year we hope to get a campsite on the beach at Cape Cod..

Well, I'm back from my little hike up the hill. *pant, pant, pant* My heart was racing, and I was breathing hard before I even left my block. Boy, do I feel out of shape! It got better about a mile up the hill. I think I walked about 2 1/2 miles. It's a start. Tomorrow, I will take the camera, and maybe even take Fancy, so I can post more pics on the mascot thread.
