Hiya orpie... Hiya boo!!!

What is this kitchen table round about?

fav thing about my yard or garden?
I like my apple, pear, and cherry trees. I like my blueberry, raspberry, and gooseberry bushes. I like my rhubarb. Annual edibles are very nice. Now to add some asparagus and strawberries.... oh and redo my herb garden that got demolished during a dig for a septic tank repair.

Good Morning Everyone,

I had a day out yesterday in my back yard.

Maple, good to see you.

We had torrential rain here yesterday but I found a long waterproof belonging to my son, so I pinched it and got outside anyway.

My yard is now springing back to life after a very long winter, and my roses are doing extremely well, I bought many of them last year as rescues. They were just sticks left in some soil at the beginning of the year, and it is wonderful to see they have survived the weather and this year I should have wonderful colour in the garden.

Yesterday I was just tidying up under the trees and making a small start on improving the layout of things and getting the raised beds ready for planting, and I have 7 trays of seeds all coming up and they will soon be ready to be planted out.

So I love a lot of things in my yard, and like Orp I am thoroughly enjoying the wildlife that comes to visit. There are so many birds, and the squirrel, a hedgehog has arrived, coming regularly to finish any dog food left outside in the evening and of course my girls love every single worm that appears and because of the damp ground we have so many of them.

But this year we will have a colourful and productive garden, but still a work in progress.

Now I am off to do some more, the rain has stopped and the sun is shining. Yay!!!

Mornin', y'all!

Well, last week was exciting. Perhaps this week will go back to normal.

My favorite thing about my yard? The peace. I grew up in the city. Once I left my parents' house, I lived in a series of apartments and condos. There were always tons of people around me. There was always noise- car noise, people noise, building noise. There was no privacy. Even in the condo, I couldn't putter around on the back porch without having neighbors and noise. Now don't get me wrong, I loved my neighbors there. But sometimes you just want quiet.

When I got this new job, I needed to move closer in. I started looking and digging through the MLS. Truthfully, the realtor didn't want to bring me out to this place. He was very leery of it and thought it was a wasted trip. We pulled in the driveway and I loved it. The house sits on an acre and a half, but is surrounded on three sides by pasture. It is quiet and peaceful and calm. My favorite thing to do when the weather is nice is to sit out on the front porch and just listen. You can hear the neighbors' cows and sheep making happy cow and sheep noises. My chickens make all the wonderful and quirky sounds that chickens make. There are bugs and songbirds making music. The wind blows through the pasture grasses and the corn they grow in the field behind me and it sounds like the ocean. In the summer you can smell the corn growing. You can also smell the cows, but that is just part of it too.

Right now the scent of hyacinth is floating gently in air and the daffodils have popped up everywhere. At night, you can see a million stars just pop out of the sky. On moonlit nights it is absolutely beautiful.

No matter how stressful the day has been, I can pull in the driveway and it all falls away. My yard and the happy little beat-up farmhouse that sits on it make my soul breath easy. I love it here.

so sorry that I missed my job of posting a new note last night. I took the opportunity for a quick road trip to Santa Cruz with my oldest friend and our menfolk. We had a lovely dinner on the wharf, and then played like kids in an arcade!

It's a working weekend for me. Today is our Arts Festival, and yesterday was a day-long rehearsal. I'm really whipped. And when you add last night's frivolity, I'm lucky to open my eyes. AND tomorrow's only Monday.

Okay, let's see.....

Note #9 - camping or motel? If you camp, tent or trailer. If you motel, motor lodge, or 5-star?
