Today was a very eventful day. I went garage sailing all day and had some pretty great finds. Today I also up a cockerel, and took him home as well. I had been planning on getting this bird for a bit now and have made the arrangements prior. I set up an outdoor cage for him so on nice days, he can see the flock and they can get used to his presence for a while. I got him settled in and laid down to watch a movie.
My mother let my lab outside. He's normally great with the chickens and leaves them alone, but I still keep an eye on him. She went outside with him anyways too. I then heard "RUSSELL, DROP IT RIGHT NOW! RUSSELL DROP THE CHICKEN!" I don't think I could've got outside quicker. Russell ran by and I feared he somehow got to my new rooster or one of the pullets. He turned around and what did he have in his mouth? He had the beanie baby rooster I bought at a garage sale. Apparently my mom was looking at earlier in the kitchen and the dog was jumping up an down because he wanted to play with it. She put it back in the bag and he got on the chair and took it out of the bag when she wasn't looking. (He's extremely sneaky when it comes to stealing beanie babies)
I'm so glad it wasn't a real chicken but it was a little funny. :)

So glad your chickens are ok, that is a classic Lab story! They can be too smart for there own good. One of my 2 Labs figured out if she goes through the human size door to the coop she can squeeze her 70 pound body through a 12x10'' chicken door to get into the pen. Once in the pen she stuffs herself silly with chicken feed.

That is a handsome rooster yo got today!

Labs are definitely a breed of their own! And thank you, he's a very pretty boy

Oh my gosh that rooster really doesn't like that fish! Lol
Thank you, me too! He's gonna stay separated for a week and I'll start introducing him. I think the all hens have really taken a liking to him, my other rooster is still unsure what to think.
