Nisha followed the rooster, trying to keep her footsteps light as she dashed through the forest with him. "It's no use," she explained. "She's growing stronger. She'll find us."

Suliya sat in the darkness, her heart pounding. That menacing voice had stopped talking, at least, but the complete silence was almost worst.

Nisha felt a pang of fear. "Griffin, what about Suliya?" she put in. "We can't leave her in there alone with that monster. We have to go back."

Griffin had stayed silent until she had mentioned Suliya. He cursed under his breath. "Listen! The border to the Middle Realmsss is that way, past that big tree. Frossty will probably be there, or hisss twin. He will help you find the way back." he clucked, trying to keep the hiss out of his voice. He started to turn around, back towards the way they had come.

Swift, being close to the edge, sensed Bones' actions and leapt into the Middle Realm without hesitation. She pushed through, straight ahead, her paws getting lighter as she went. She had to get to Suliya before--

"Okay." Nisha didn't see Swift's tail disappear into the purplish veil, but soon she too disappeared behind it. There was no time to be distracted.
