The last of my meat bird layers is eggbound - vet gave calcium - still no egg - suggestions please!

Amoxycillan. She said it sounded like there was "something going on" in her lungs.

Many bacteria are resistant to the that, so might be worth having her listen to her lungs again. If it were my bird I would ask my vet about Baytril (enrofloxacin).

I was so hopeful yesterday - she woke me up with an eggsong! I figured she either laid an egg or was looking for somewhere to lay and didn't like the dog cage (we have a lot of soft hay in it). We brought her out to the coop - left her in there for about 4 hours - then brought her back in. Now, she is still eating, but not drinking.

I am convinced that fluids help even if they don't look dehydrated.

I agree. She stopped drinking yesterday. I left her alone with my husband today for 3 hours - left them both relaxing by the woodstove. I just came home to find her drinking again! Maybe she got sick of the Gatorade laced water. He gave her water with
a bit of apple cider vinegar - she is drinking it up, eating food, walking around. He said she needed quality time alone with daddy lol!
I must say, she does prefer him to me - it is obvious.

@cocoloco, how is she?

She was born in late March - a Spring Chicken! - she's about 9 months old.

Hi Kathy, Man - busy, busy day - playing catch-up from the holiday. Re your question, Cindy is holding her own.
She finished the amoxycillan on Monday - so that's one week with that and liquid calcium - which she finished today.
I called the vet and said she doesn't act sick - she is eating and drinking - but, still, no egg. She seems
to enjoy being in the house near us. Vet gave me another week of amoxycillan. She said she has heard of
chickens going a month not passing an egg. I feel so helpless - it's all up to her. My vet asked how her
lungs and breathing sounded - well, she's obese so she struggles a bit but I have not heard wheezing.
She was really worked up in the vet office because she was nervous - the vet commented on her shallow
breathing but I attributed much of that to distress.I let one of the flock in the other day - the smallest hen. Cindy
started making noises as soon as she saw her - almost sounded like an eggsong. She went into the dog cage
and turned her back on the other chicken. I picked up the chicken and put her out. Only then, did she
shut up. I opened the door today to see if she wanted to go join the other chickens - she walked to the
threshold, looked out, then turned back. She could hear her rooster too - but she didn't seem to care.

Hi Kathy, Unfortunately, Cindy died 2 days after my last post. We felt we had done everything we could for her but it still hurts. She was the last
of my fluffy big-bottom broiler girls. Thank you so much for your support through all this.
