The Last One Standing - Sci Fi RP

Nessa recovered from the jab one of the tent poles had given her eye long enough to say, "Hi Ruby, Rayne. I'm Nessa." She then noticed and stared in amazement at their completed tents, then back at her own jumble of canvas and tent poles. "How on Earth-or Venus-do you do that?" she asked, sounding completely lost.

"Here, I'll help." Rayne took the pole from Nessa's hand and aligned it with another, then drove them both into the ground with her foot. She placed the last pole so the tent was upright. "Oh, and nice to meet you. Were you going to say something, Ruby?" Rayne glanced up at the other girl curiously.

Rayne knit her brows but said nothing. For an instant she thought she saw a figure through her contact lenses far on the horizon; they could detect infrared light and it looked like a body far away. Rayne turned her head, pretending nothing had happened.

Ruby sighed. She was feeling fatigued after a long journey without food or light, and the sun was behind one of the many clouds on Venus. "What's the topography like around here? Are there any streams, or sunny places, nearby? After I get my flight pack set up, I can go pretty far and pick up some water."
