So my last post about Lucy (aka Nubby) talked mostly about her weird nubby wings (which is still a mystery), as well as her lack of feathers. Well, today I found an article about delayed feathering in chicks. It's not something I've personally come across before raising chicks, so I thought I would share it here incase someone else needs to see it. It did give me flashbacks to the brain scrambling genetics section of biology class though, so heads up if you slept through that part of class too.

Here's a bonus picture of Lucy. Tomorrow she and Audery will be 1 month old!

I had a chick like this in my last hatch. It wasn’t growing either. Would have been a week old today (passed yeaserday). Wasn’t growing feathers. Poor little thing was half the size of the others. It was eating and drinking just fine. Slept a lot.

Ah man, I'm sorry. Oddly enough, Lucy is bigger than the other chicks. She's growing like crazy, just took her sweet time getting feathers.
