I have two hens laying for sometime now and have gotten 8 eggs in four days. So not bad at all. I also have lot in the incubator with hatches coming this week and next week. Hoping for some pure cream girls and boys out of these hatches.

I'll be separating my legbars this week, we have some 'easter legger' eggs in the bator now just to see what comes out

Wow @madamwlf I think most people would really like your ratios!!! But I know what you mean about wishing for selection of males to grow out.

My hatches have been swinging from one extreme to the other on the gender ratio with a few even hatches. I think overall I am hatching slightly more girls than boys so far this year.

My streak continues. Another hatch is happening this weekend and out of the 6 Cream Legbar eggs that have hatched, all 6 are pullets!! What am I going to do with all these pullets and no roosters to grow out??

My 2 pullets are laying now. I have gotten 4 eggs in total in the past few days. I have yet to look for eggs this morn, Im head out in a min to go collect.

I have been storing these eggs downstairs with the other hatching eggs that I plan to set on tues or wed. Im a little hesitant to set them but at the same time cant wait to get started. Do you all hatch pullet eggs or wait a month or so?

That's what I figured I typically do the same thing but was just curious what everyone thinks about pullet eggs.

my 2-cents (based on information in Gail Damerow's book) is that the pullet should be producing full-sized eggs - before the eggs are incubated - for the best health of the chicks and the best health of the breed.

I'm one that throws anything from a pen with a roo into the bator including pullet eggs... I will say hatch rates are way lower for pullet eggs and a lot end up being infertile. But I just can't help myself... honestly most long-time breeders will tell you to wait at least two weeks before incubating.

I give them about 3-4 weeks before I hatch them. I've tried hatching them early with both good and bad results but not feel comfortable hatching from the really small first eggs. I don't wait until full-size eggs as that can take quite a few months and some say wait until they are a year old but my circumstances make that infeasible for me.
