Phillip, a black pegasus, a bay Arabian mare, a peregrine falcon, and kestrel were nearby. They were waiting for the right moment to strike.

Faedon threw herself into the air, trying to crush the owl, but the owl dug her talons in deeper. Blood streamed from Faedon's neck, splattering the rocks below. Faedon bit one of the owl's talons, ignoring the pain from the small coals in the tips. The barn owl screamed as Faedon yanked on it, shattering bones.

Suddenly the owl's flight feathers caught fire. Three dark shapes flew down, two of them heading for the dark animals and the largest hovering in front of Neptune. "This way!" Maggie yelled.

The owl, surprisingly, was unaffected. "You idiot! Fire is my best element!" The fire spread to the owl's other feathers, and she laughed maniacally.
