Chapter Forty Two
I gently helped make the pip bigger, until it was almost all the way around the egg. The chick took it by him/herself from there.
I was shocked when it hatched.
"Clouds!!!!!!!!" I screamed, waking him.
"What now?" He said, grumpy from being waked up.
"Our egg hatched."
"Congrats."
"And it's PINK!!!" I screamed, "What's wrong with it? Is it just weird, or is it a new mutation?"
Clouds rolled his eyes, "It doesn't have feathers yet. If you didn't have feathers, you will be pink too."
"Will it grow feathers?"
"Of course it will!"
"Oh."
"Now let me see it, please."
Clouds went in the box, and studied the chick.
"This one's big. That's good."
Clouds fed the chick.
"How many times do we feed it?" I asked him.
"I've never really counted. Whenever they're hungry, I guess."
"Oh."
"I wonder what mutation they will be," Clouds muttered to himself.
I had thought the same thing.
"Me too."
"I can't believe I'm a mom now," I whistled.
"I can't believe I'm actually breeding," Clouds chirped, "But it's not as bad as I thought."
"Me neither. This is exciting!" I trilled.
"Guess it is. Good night," He said as he left.
"Good night," I started to brood the chick.
