Chapter Forty Eight

The next day, I asked Sun and Sea if they could give us a tour of the stuff and other birds in the aviary.
They were glad to.
We met lots of new birds.
Tweet- light green recessive pied
Tree-cinnamon grey-green
Spirit-cobalt dominant pied
Snow-albino
There were lots more, but I forgot most of them.
Then, they showed us the boxes.
"These are called nesting boxes," Sea explained.
"Yeah, and the hens in them won't mind if we go in," Sun said, poking his head in.
"Hey, Aqua, do you mind if Apple the new bird goes in to take a look at your chicks?" Sun asked the hen inside.
"She said yes," Sun reported.
I went in to take a look.
"Hi!" Aqua chirped. She was a cinnamon clearflight sky blue.
"Hello!" I saw her chicks, "You have lovely chicks."
"Thanks. I heard you had your own."
"Yeah. I didn't want to, though."
She laughed, "Well the good news here is that you can if you want, and if you don't, no one's going to make you."
"That's a relief," I sighed.
"Oh, and Spirit, Sunny, and Grass were my chicks from before. Have you met them?"
"I've met Spirit, but not the others."
"Oh. I can go get them if you want."
"That would be great!" I waited while Aqua went out of the box and returned with Spirit, a light green recessive pied, and a normal light green.
"Mom, what is it now?" Grass complained, "We were just playing tag! You made me loose, too."
"Spirit, Sunny, Grass, Apple. Apple, Spirit, Sunny, Grass," Aqua introduced.
"Hi," I greeted.
"Hello Apple," The three chirped in unison.
"How old are you?" I asked them.
"We're half a year old."
"Wow."
"Yeah, they grow pretty fast," Aqua tweeted.
"They sure do."
