Chapter Thirty Five

"Are you crazy?" Clouds demanded, "Or are you just stupid?"
He had a point, I guess. I could fall off the roof any minute, it was very slippery, and standing there getting snow in my eye wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done.
But I have just made a discovery totally new to budgie-kind.
"It does fall from the sky! It falls from the clouds!" I exclaimed.
"But how?" Clouds still didn't know exactly what was going on with me.
"I don't know! All I know is that the snow only falls when there are clouds in the sky."
"So what will happen if I fly in the sky?" Clouds joked.
I laughed.
Flying back down, I said, "So how do we go back in now? I'm so cold!"
"Well, follow me." Clouds waddled towards the side of the house.
I followed like he asked.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
Before he could answer, Clouds hopped onto the outside windowsill of a window.
I flew up, too.
"But it's not open!"
"Watch and learn, Apple," Clouds chirped confidently.
He started banging on the window and chirping, screeching, even whistling really loud.
"Come on! Do it with me!"
So I started doing it, too.
Finally, the human heard, and opened the window.
Scared, we flew up onto a roof.
Peaking down, we decided it was ok to go, and went down into the house.
Before the human could say anything, we were in the room the cages were in, on top of our cage.
"Now don't think of escaping again," The human ordered us.
"That was fun," I chirped, out of breath to Clouds.
The human, thinking I was talking to him, laughed.
He put us into our cages. I immediately wanted to go back outside, with all the white fuzzy snow and freedom.
"Can we go again someday?" I chirped to Clouds.
"Yes, but preferably in the Spring."
"Yeah, that would be nice," I yawned, and fell asleep.
