~*~The Life Story of Apple the Budgie~*~

Chapter Fifty Six

I've been ignoring the matter for so long, but I'm going to have to admit it to myself sooner of later.
Might as well be now.
When Aqua had been carried off by the owl, I let her chicks sit out in the cold night for quite a while.
When I started brooding them, I could tell one was cold, but I figured it would warm up soon enough.
I was wrong.
I knew that I couldn't have saved it anyhow, but I can't help but blame myself.
I let Aqua down.
I had a dream the day I admitted it to myself.
Aqua came down from heaven, an angel with sparkles shining on the tip of her wings.
She landed next to me. Her narrowed eyes were blood red.
"You killed it." She growled angrily in a deep, rumbling voice.
"I, I..." I stuttered.
"You killed it," She roared, "And now you will pay."
"Please," I begged.
"You WILL pay." She interrupted me.
I woke up.
Breathing heavily, I dove to the ground to the crinkled up flower. It was brown now, and have long been withered.
Sighing, I buried it under the dirt.
I'm sorry, Aqua, I thought, But if I keep this, you will haunt me forever.
I couldn't look at Stream or Blue that day.
They looked too much like her.
I squeezed my eyes shut, and went to sleep, trying to escape from reality.
Angel Aqua's blood red eyes were all I could see.
I couldn't escape.
