Chapter Sixty

I looked at the human with sad, asking eyes, and she finally gave up.
"Oh, all right. For you, Apple," The girl said with a sigh.
I found that I could actually understand some of the human talk now!
"Sky escaped. We didn't give him away. I...I think he missed you."
Sky escaped, didn't... away... missed you, was all I understood, but it was enough for me.
"Where is he?!?" I demanded.
"What? I don't speak bird. But maybe you can figure out where he is..."
Where! All I have to do was repeat it, and the girl would understand me!
"Where???" I asked her.
"Did you just talk?" She gasped, then picked me up happily, and danced around.
Humans are so weird.
I flew out onto the ground again.
"WHERE?"
"Oh, right. Sky flew up a tree, and I couldn't find him since. Not sure if you can understand me, though."
That was enough for me. I headed for the still-open window.
The girl was still staring at me, not sure what to think.
I flew outside, and looked for a tree Sky might like.
Then, I found a really big, leafy one.
It was getting late, and I was getting tired.
I climbed on one of the branches.
No, I wanted to go up higher.
When I did, a budgie's face appeared out of no where, and asked me angrily,
"What are you doing here?"
