We are a small habitat in southeast Marion County. We are new to having chickens but my grandparents raised chickens and geese for many years (kept the neighbors fed during the depression). I still have some of the original pillows my grandmothers made from the goose down. We currently have 6 (girls we hope) Rhode Island Reds. Our family has spent most of their life in service to our community (fire fighter, special deputy) and country (Air force, Marine Corps). My husband and I are semi-retired and our children are medically retired from active duty. We enjoy being out-of-doors doing things around the house or sitting on the porch enjoying a cool beverage. We also have two german shepherds and hope to increase our pack in the near future with an Aussie or two. I also enjoy sewing and needlework of all kinds, making my own gluten-free soap and baking. My husband and I both enjoy cooking and will even cook together on occasion but we sometimes disagree on spices to use... We look forward to learning from this group.

Sounds like you enjoy the down to Earth lifestyle. I do too and love the simple life.

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our roost! :)
