We installed the VSB automatic door (purchased in the U.S. from Foy Pigeon Supplies at www.foyspigeonsupplies.com)

It installed easily (probably the only part of building our first coop that we did right the first time) and has worked flawlessly. We can not always be home at the right time to close the door, so we felt it was worth the investment for the safety for our chickens. I am very happy with it.

You're getting some clever ideas, chicken folks are creative! We built two, one for the outer wall and one for the inner. That decision was both for biosecurity and winter shelter. There is a platform on the inside and one on the outside at the same height. They love the arrangement! Chicks shown are 5 weeks old.
