I just bought one of these playhouses off craigslist for $25 and have been searching for more detailed instructions on how people have modified them......We are just starting out (don't have the birds yet) and I plan to use ours in a tractor design.....but my design changes with every coop page i look at....
WOW!!!!!! I'm picking up one of these just to look my two pilgrim geese at in at night. They will free roam on my acre lot during the day. But for wind break, and weather perftaction what a great idea!!!! I want to add screen to the windows so I can leave them open, or close them in teh winter. I was laughing though. I was thinking..... WOW and someone already thought of this lol!!! CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!!
We also used a little tykes playhouse as a chicken coop. I was frustrated trying to come up with an idea for nest boxes. I then saw an ad on Craigslist for stacking dog food containers and the light bulb went on. They work perfectly! We cut a hole in the back of the container and poked a few holes in the bottom, to keep water out. The door to collect the eggs can even have a lock attached. Now, if we can only think of a way to add shutters to the other windows, we'd be happy. Hope my suggestion helps.
I am looking to do this as well for the girls. The coop I have is way too small, but I want to get an old playhouse and turn it into a coop. I can attach the run to the coop too, and if you get a used one its only like $20-$100!!!! Great idea and very inventive
