Chapter 20
Morning. It seemed about 6:00 a.m. Ethel and Pepper were already up to say goodbyes, so were the roosters. This "goodbye" was very painful to do. I got down and loaded myelf with so much food and water that I was about to burst.
The gate was not opened yet, but it will soon. I waited... and waited, when finally the man came down, most of the hens were out, but some were still sleeping.
"Well. This is our goodbye for now." Tears welled up. I gave Ethel and Pepper huge hugs and they were also crying hot tears.
Ethel was the first to speak. "Hannah I will miss you so much!"
"Yeah, it won't be the same without you for about a month!" Pepper exclaimed.
"You guys are the best friends anyone could have! I would never, ever replace such unique girls like yourselves!" I spoke through my tears.
They gave me one more hug and I was off into the deep forest. It was a scary place, but I knew some great spot is waiting for me. I actually had to really lay an egg now, but I held it in, knewing it was fertile.
It was muggy out, but not to hot. It was a nice day out. I was super excited and scared at the same time! I wonder what I'll name my little kids.... Lilly? Rose? Miracle? Well they will always be my little miracles.
If it was a boy what would I name him? Jack? Jay? Roster? Oh! I liked Roster! I was jumping with glee! I was super happy to hatch my eggs!
5 hours later
I was deep in the forest and I found a nice spot, it seemed like a really great spot. It was already a nest, but an abandonned one. Sweet! It was nice and high and was big. It was hidden too! Looks perfect!
I flew up to it and layed my egg. How exciting! My first egg already!!! Eep! The egg was nice and perfect, good brown color and was already clean.
I looked at my surroundings. Pine trees, oak trees, and bushes everywhere. There was a small clearing about 10 feet from my tree. I can go there later for food! I was actully still a bit stuffed, but I knew I would get hungry soon. I hope this will be a great adventure for me and my Little Miracles soon to be.
