Chapter 30

I woke up from slight rain drops. I blinked a couple times. It's raining! I smiled, yes finally some water to drink! I got down and Bambi saw me. He followed me to one of the water holes. I drank to the last drop.
I looked up at the sky. It was gray with really dark clouds. It was going to storm. Probably bad.
I looked over to Bambi, "Don't worry Bambi." I smiled.
Wait... was Bambi a boy name too? I shrugged and went back to my tree, up to my nest.
By the time I got up there It started to pour and thunder.
It was getting a bit chilly, maybe because it was nearly night time. I have been sleeping a lot lately, but I also didn't know what to do the rest of the night. I looked down at Bambi, he was sleeping under my tree. He gets to sleep pretty fast!
I tried picturing what Ethel and Pepper were doing. They are most likely going up to their roosts by now. Probaby chatting away. They are going to have to fill me in the latest gossip. I laughed. We weren't the type to gossip.
Was tomorrow day 18? I'm pretty sure it is. It's getting so close to the big day! When they come I have the perfect names for them!
I guess I was getting a bit tired so I decided to just sleep for the night.

Just when I finally got to sleep I heard scratching. Something scratching on... bark? The ground? I looked down and Bambi was gone.
"Bambi?" I half whispered.
I looked all around. I didn't see anything or him. It might be that rat again. Or a racoon. To be honest I don't know what it could be. And I didn't want to leave my eggs again. It was sprinkiling and thundering a bit. Maybe it'd be a small storm or it just hasn't rolled in yet.
I looked at the base of my tree again and still nothing was there. It was a hard to decide whether or not to leave my nest and check it out.
Okay, I'd only be gone for 2 minutes... hopefully.
I got all the way down and checked around the base of my tree. Nothing. Then I heard the scratching noise behind me. I turned around and screamed.
