"I love you," Daffy told the egg before heading back to her burrow.

Ruby started to run back to her burrow. She got to the burrow and ran inside, not knowing a predator was close. "Oh, hello guys!"

Ruby was still walking with Daffy. The chicks were sleeping, dreaming of pleasant things.

Wren saw them coming. The rustling and hissing was getting closer. Daffy and Ruby were nearly in front of the clump of brush. “Get out of the way!” Screamed Wren, throwing her small but stocky body at the hens. A large snake exploded out of the bushes behind her.

Dew sat down next her family.

Splash nuzzled Dew and then fell asleep. She couldn't help herself from mothering her chicks still.

“Oh God! Fang! Get RID of those! One of those nearly wrecked camp a few months ago, don’t you remember? EWWWW!” Rain shrieked.

Fang shook her head. "The mom is dead, I know it. If I get rid of them, I'll be no better than someone who kills someone innocent! They weren't even born a few days ago! That's unfair to think that they came into the world just to freeze and die." Fang nodded firmly. "Rat me out if you want, but I'll leave. I don't want this to break our friendship, but these things are babies! They're innocent so far!"
