So for those cement experts, well stop reading now! Just thought I'd share the humor of my cement experience. See, I was shoulder deep in the pond going nuts spreading cement when it occured to me I was going to ruin my beautiful cowboy boots. So, I took them off. I then decided to just take off my pants too. Hate to ruin them as well. So I'm busy as a bee when I trip and get my shirt dirty. Off it comes. Pretty soon I'm in a giant hole, buck naked. Thank goodness for country living!!

My dads truck. He insists I need more math classes. I asked him if his truck could handle a ton of cement. He assured me it could. So I bought a pallet, 42 80lb bags. Guess I should have asked him if 3 tons would be ok. Thought he would have a heart attack when the dropped it into his truck bed.

The pond is fully cemented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It rained so I had no choice as I'd left the cement by the pond. I was out late lastnight finishing it up. I didn't do a lot of smoothing so it's rather rough but I'm fine with that.

Next step is digging the holes and dropping posts for the duck hut.

I've also decided to plant grass. Whenever I see them tearing it up I'll just fence an area off so it can regrow. 2 weeks for the cement to fully cure so that's 2 weeks to let the grass seed. I just ruined what was there when I used the tractor to dig and I don't want a huge mud pit so grass it is.

I really don't know how those of you who cemented awesomely large ponds did it. I'm sore everywhere. My arms ache, back, legs, fingers even. Pain!

Pictures will for sure be added tonight. It's not all that exciting yet. Just wait to see how beautiful it is full of water with all my bought and pilfered pond plants around it. Bliss!!

So I've discovered a problem. We had a big rain last night. Going out this morning I see that my biological filter has not fared well. I now think I might have to cement it as well which will not be fun.
