CHAPTER 3 - SURVIVAL...?

Shaunee's screech pierced the night's regular silence, bolting up from her bed. Her skin was littered with sweat, and she was panting violently. Her eyes were scopic, fear rocketing through her.
She tried to recollect what it was that she had dreamed. What had terrified her so horribly.
However, the problem was that she couldn't remember what it was.
Collapsing back onto her bed, she quivered so hard that within only a few moments tears cascaded down her cheeks.
When she also realized there was no one in the house. She was alone. Her parents were still out gambling.
Then where was her younger brother? He would have obviously heard her scream... right?
Swinging her legs over her bed, she grabbed a nearby curling iron. Advancing towards her brother's room, she saw he was fast asleep. How could he still be asleep - she had just comitted a scream so terrible it could impair anyone.
But he was asleep. So lost in his own dreams that he looked as if he was hardly breathing. His four year old body was awaiting the morning to come, but for now was trapped in a state of rest at his brain's own signal.
... However, that was what she thought before she got a closer look.

CHAPTER 4 - INESCAPABLE

Bloody handprints soiled the curtains, ripped to little more than ribbons. Glass littered the floor, the chill of the night bleeding into her brother's room. She didn't want to look at her brother, terrified.
She didn't want to look. If something had broken in, and caused this graphicity on the curtains and floor, what could it have done to her brother...?
Yet her curiosity overtook her, and she dared to look.
She remembered the number, and the creature's forewarning. I suppose... This creature... Is truly inescapable...
Her body convulsed at the broken carcass of her dead brother.
Glass had sliced his skin near to nothing, his arms marionetted into a forced, strange position. His shirt was shredded, his soft 4-year-old skin soiled with crimson. His eyes, a beautiful blue with lighter or darker blue flecks - Shaunee had always thought it looked like chipped ice - were drowning in fear; now transfixed open. Gently passing a hand over his face and closing his eyes, she collapsed to her knees. She ignored the cuts she gave herself, her hands shoved through her stringy brunette hair. She tried to force back her tears, but it was a futile effort.
So young... Too early to die... So young...
