The Mandalorian - Overpromised Underdelivered

I had the exact opposite reaction. I absolutely loved it. Maybe it's because I'm old enough to remember going to the theater to watch the original which absolutely changed my childhood. There was never anything like it.

I found The Mandelorian to have the same type of humor the originals had. I enjoy campy characters. I found the newer Star Wars hard to watch because they lack that underlying humor. They were too dark, and serious. Solo was at least one that was a bit lighter in the story.

Maybe it's a generational thing. I often don't find recent comedy shows funny at all, but Gilligan's Island still cracks me up.

I am a huge sci-fi fan. Find it a wonderful escape from the realities of “real“ life, especially these days!
I have to agree with those who are not impressed with the Mandalorian! I love all the Star Wars and Star Trek movies and all those different series. I remember watching the first Star Wars movie in a movie theater when I was a young teen and it was so absolutely amazing for the time.
I enjoyed Star Trek Discovery much more, it just completed the third season. Streams on CBS All Access. 😊

Well, after MANY friends making the suggestion, the GF and I started watching "The Expanse" a few weeks ago. We got SO into it, that we're not caught-up on all 5 seasons!
:th

We've both been VERY impressed with it. We don't find it predictable or repetitive like a lot of other shows. It's also a bit smarter and less "campy" than a lot of other sci-fi we've seen lately. It just feels like a bunch of stuff is dumbed-down to appeal to the masses?

Maybe I'm getting too critical in my old-age? LOL!

but, ya... if you like Sci-Fi, I strongly suggest checking out The Expanse on Amazon Prime.

Oh, the other thing we really like about it: There isn't a super clear "bad guy" vs. "good guy". Sure there are "sides" and we're rooting for the main crew... BUT the writers did a great job making it so you could get an idea of WHY the "other group/side" was making the choices they made... and it didn't make them seem "evil". Pretty cool!
