The Master Trapper!! 2nd one in 3 days!

My husband made that trap and I'm quite proud of it. We had been trying to catch what we thought was just one coon, and it couldn't fit into our store bought trap. So he, being concerned about the worry I had for my girls and anger that every night something was in my flower garden eating suet, he devised this handy trap.

Quite proud cuz when that door slams shut, it's not comin' open!! It literally is so heavy it shoves the whole trap back 5 inches!!

Good for you!

He sure put a lot of thought and skill into making that trap. Any chance you could post a picture of the latching device he used to lock the door shut? The traps I've made always seems to be easily opened by those "little hands".

Thanx,

Bill

Bill- here are some pics, if they are hard to tell what they are, just let me know, I'll be more than happy to send you pics. The trick was attaching 2 latches. We knew those buggers would finagle 1 latch, but 2? If it could do that, it deserved to get loose!! Again, let me know if you want me to send you pics. You or anyone can PM me for pics.

I coon hunted for years, untill health reasons stopped me,I have ate many coons, they are delicious when prepaired properly, nothing wrong with killing a coon for food, and if he is caught killing your chickens, its a bonus for you, anyone want a good recipe for raccoon please feel free to email or pm me,,mxpres

Wow, what a trap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a great trap! I just bought one to catch a pesky raccoon myself and now I am thinking one of those looks much better.

Not too expensive to make either. He used fencing, the coated welded wire, and maybe six treated 2x4's we already had-he can't remember how many, but says no more than 6. All we had to buy was the latches. Definitely cost less than the one we bought that the darn things can't even fit in!

I guess the old saying "If you want something done right..."

You all know the rest! That's why we have chickens!!

Thanks for taking the time to get the great pictures! Quite an impressive trap and the tripping mechanism closeup is appreciated too. The locking latches are the same type I use on my chicken yard gates.
A well thought out design. Might even get Wile E. Coyote to enter with the right bait {Roadrunner}.

Thanks again,
