The Middle Tennessee Thread

I'm 30 miles east of Chattanooga. You can not have chickens in the city. They are working on a bill that would allow up to 15 hens per house no rooster. However, it died because they put in a $50 a year fee AKA tax. So they are drawing up a new one. They say they need to add the extra tax to counter the animal shelter cost to keep up unwanted/stray chickens. Living in Chattanooga has fiber optic cable under every street. Making the whole city super fast internet. Which is nice. But there are many other areas in Hamilton county to live. We moved out of the city to Harrison up by the lake. Anything goes in the county and not too far a drive to shopping or interstate 75. We have a house in the city we rent out. The taxes on it are $1,150 a year. 2 bed 1 bath 1,300sqft house on a single lot. In the county 2 acres, 5 bed 2 bath 2,300sqft house is $710 a year. The city has free trash pick up as well as free brush and leave curb side pick up. The county doesn't have trash pick up. We pay $18 a month for a truck to come out once a week. We use to just go to the dump once a week @$1.50 a bag. But they changed that and now charge by the weight. Turns out cheaper and easier for the truck to come to my house. So if you come down to Hamilton county live outside the city if you want chickens. Depends on which side of the ridge you will be working to say which area to move too. The ridge cut is always backed up on I24. If you work down town. Live out toward Signal MT, Soddy Daisy or past the river bend toward Nick a Jack. If you work on the east side of town like the VW plant or Amazon, the best is Harrison, Ooltewah, East brainerd, or Aspen. If you have school age kids and don't want to pay for private school. Then don't move to Harrison. The town schools are awful. The mix of the county kids from the north and the inner city kids from the south makes for poor jr and high schools. We didn't know till our kids started going to school. One year of public school here was enough. Now we drive the kids to a private christian school. Ah the life of big cities Gangs and school shootings. I'll stick to the woods thank you!

Yes I'm back on the road again got me a dandy cock wagon ! It should haul plenty of chickens and it has that 1992 new car smell. 97,000 miles on a 92 chevy astro for $1200 I couldn't pass it up. It needs a little TLC but that's fine by me. Took all the carpet out of it soaked it down with some purple power and hosed them off real good they look and smell tons better. I got the carpet and all the trim back on and was ready to go get tags and insurance and couldn't find my keys no where. I looked for over an hour and then I noticed a small lump under the carpet Hmmm. Took all the trim back off and the carpet back up and there I found my keys I'm such a genius.

Wow, you'd never tell the age from the condition of the van. Spray it with scotch-guard now, can't do it after you get stains as it will set them. So sorry about the Rooster, has me thinking of getting one. But jay- jay, the donkey, is already SO loud.
