The Middle Tennessee Thread

I've got gold laced polish, also white crested black and white crested blue.....and a few funky colored frizzled polish! I hope to have barred and crele Polish next year....eggs are on their way!

Tractor Supply in Tullahoma is hosting a Poultry Day today (Saturday) from 10-3 in the parking lot. Purina will have a table/display, I am manning the vet's table to answer questions, and myself and several others are bringing birds to sell.

Hey ya'll

We just got the great news that we close on our house next week and at the top of the list of what we want is CHICKENS :D

So to my middle TN peeps.......where can I get a decent coop at a decent price? Is it cheaper to build one? Where are the best breeders for chicks? We're in Mcminnville bw
The Mount Eagle MT flea market has a guy that makes/sells smaller coops and not too $$$. Check craigslist, he is always on there. But for bigger coops. It is cheaper to build from recycles. Like shipping pallets again craigslist "free" You can find all kinds of stuff free on it. As others have said used sheds can convert well.

For chickens this site is good. Lots of people and info. I raise Olive Eggers and Easter Eggers Mutts that lay green, blue, brown and all shades in between. I don't have any for sale atm. Just hatching eggs.

If anyone is looking for Guineas, I have some for sale.  I am in Giles County..  pick up only..  also have white crested black polish golden lace polish, and buff laced polish, that I hatched from eggs.  Also have 3 Millie Fleur D'uccle's 2 hens 1 rooster. White silkies all are PET QUALITY.  I have ordered eggs and need to make room for the chickens that I really want.
All polish are spoken for..

we were actually told our fat white chicken "Dumplin" was a leghorn. She does waddle but has very thick fat legs. She seems to do ok but is slower than the other chickens. She even sounds somewhat like a goose instead of a chicken. Our boss chicken seems to peck at the fatty a lot. She is a sweet chicken but does not like to be handled at all. We sorta figured when she began getting so much bigger than the others that we would eat her first...hence the name dumpling...chicken and dumplings are Elijah's favorite!
