Timon was helping my wing band chickens today. (Wing banding is SO MUCH EASIER than leg bands...) His idea of helping was to sunbathe and then run away when the Silkies got too close to him. He is a useless farm cat, lol

Anyway. Guinea time! After we got our first egg a few days ago I have had nothing since then. LAY GUINEAS LAY. The pied, pearl grey and white all free range and the rest are in a huge enclosed area.

Pied and Pearl Grey.

White.

Coral Blue, I think?

Brown? Buff Dundotte? Chocolate in back?

Lavender.

Buff Dundotte.

I think the one in front is Porcelain or Lite Lavender. She came from Donna.
I want guineas so bad! But I have neighbor problems as it is. I am having to build runs for most of my free range flock before my neighbor (who technically lives in MY side yard) starts picking them off with a gun (but they are gun haters so I don't think that is going to happen). I hate it when "city folk" move to the country and want to make it into the city.

I've relocated all mine got them full grown 4 free range and 2 in coop no problems lol I was always to skeered to get keets I work all the time

If they are young and kept in a pen for several months you can move them. Older birds have a STRONG homing thing and will not stay where you move them. Maybe if you pen them up for 3-4 months but still that does not always work. Chickens yes, guinea no.

You can't sex guinea EVER!  LOL  I know I have more boys and girls from my first batch of guinea..... but I have no idea which are which.....   calls are the only way to sex them I think... but how has time to sit and watch and listen.... then tagging them some how.... have you ever tried to catch a guinea?  Well I did the other day but got lucky and he was trapped.   Free handed too.... not a scratch on me either LOL
yes the call and the other way is the knot on the hens head is smaller plus most makes walk taller

I have not seen anyway to tell gender.... make me no difference as long as I get some eggs and they eat the bugs.
yup that's why I got started with my birds had a really bad tic problem here couldn't walk from the house to the car without getting covered in seed ticks

Every time they threatened my birds I'd peg them in the butt with a bb gun/ high powered air pellet gun. See how they like being picked on. lol

lol that'll learn'em

lol I would. I asked my neighbors to keep thier dogs away from my chicken coop or at least try to. and they just watch them come over and mess around my barn area. I caught their big one trying to dig out the side of my run twice. the first time I took it back to them and asked them again. The second I pegged it in the butt with my son's bb gun right in front of the woman and informed her that the next time she stands there and watches her "predator" go after my birds I would call animal control and if it got my birds through my fence that she would no longer have a dog.
Needless to say she has only been in my yard twice after that and the woman called her back once and the last time my chickens were out ranging and my rooster beat the crap out of her (unscathed). Dog doesnt even go near my property line anymore.
