Pig is on the list of animals we want but finding one we can afford is proving hard. Prices are so high for animals right now! I'm sick with the prices of bottle baby goats and sheep.

Are you looking for a large slaughter type hog or a pig? I have mini pigs for sale right now.
I know I will take some grief for this comment but the mini pigs are a good sustainable meat pig also if like me you don't need 500# of meat at a time just saying they are made of pork.

This is a reminder that the Woodbury Poultry Swap is this Saturday at Cannon County Fairgrounds in Woodbury starting at 7:00am. Vendor space is $10. This is a fun social function! :)

Yes LF = Large Fowl as far as I know their are only LF & Bantamn.
I went to the show also. It was pretty cool, my 1st chicken show. I completed my mission, hens & pullet delivered & eggs collected for DMRippy. I was good & only came home with 2 birds. A pair of Crele Polish. I couldn't resist the cotton ball heads on them plus my White Crested Black Polish was lonely for distant relatives. From what I understand there's another show in Newport Tn. in 2 weeks that's much larger. I won't be going to that one I've got plans to go welcome my Marine son home from deployment.

I wish I would've known top introduce myself. I came through with a husband and 4 munchkins. I thought there was only LF and bantam basically. I know each breed has sizes too. How old do you think the LF there were? Just trying to figure how long before they get that big :)

Quote: You can show reg sized birds but in some classes if your birds are not that big you will not stand a chance of winning or placing. You should have seen the wyandottes Jerry Foley had..... may have been some of the biggest I have ever seen. Those kind of birds do have issues so I would not want them myself.

Yours or mine may never get that big, the birds there are show birds. They have been breed to be very large. I don't expect mine to ever reach the size of some of the Roosters I saw there.

The only Apple Barn that I know of now is the one in Pigeon Forge. There is all sorta of things to do up there with small children. As far as Knoxville goes my oldest daughter takes her two kids to the worlds fair park and they play in the fountains a couple times a week during the summer (it's free). Your little ones might enjoy ijams nature center as well.
If you bring the kids to Chattanooga, they will love the Creative Discovery Museum, and the Tennessee aquarium just open a new area for the otters.
