Just put them on craigslist. Free usually they are gone quick.[/quote

Is there a way to really know what their fate is? Not sure how prominent fighting really is, but it kills me to think of the babies I raised ending up there!

We live in Murfreesboro, and we started keeping chickens last year. We love having them. However, I also love gardening. I have a question. What kinds of shade plants do chickens NOT love to eat? I started a lovely little garden last year with several kinds of hostas. I quickly found out that chickens like to eat these. I'd like to try again this year. What have you found that grows well in shady areas (I'd love to grow some flowers along with a bush or two and just some greenery) that chickens will NOT eat????

How do I find someone who wants roosters, that will use them for food or pets, not fighting?! I have 9 week old babies and will likely have at least 5 Roos. We may keep one, so I will need to find a good place for the others. Thoughts?

Only certain breeds are game and will fight like that. Unless you specifically bought gamebirds from a cockfighter, I seriously doubt that would be a problem. Now making Chicken Tetrazini out of them? That's another thing all together.

Does anyone have and silkie eggs that I could get from them to hatch myself? I would like any color other then white. I have 10 white silkies already. Thanks

I have a pen of white silkies, a pen of blues/blacks (some cuckoo) and a pen of partridge/buff (some cuckoo). I am getting some lovely unusual colors of chicks! $20 per dozen. We are between Shelbyville and Lynchburg.

Don't use Craig's List unless you want to be haunted to death. Some local papers offer FREE ads for FREE stuff. Try a FREE paper that puts listings out there for no cost in Shops, Restaurants, and Street Dispensers.

I use Craig's list and had nasty calls, people selling things, and sometimes there are people out there to do you harm. Never meet folks at designated sites and especially Alone.

Since one roster can manage 15 to 20 or more hens, that is all one shall need anyhow. Too many Rosters can fight and the Meanest One is left in the end. That One can be nasty and attach you and guests on your property. I know of no way to tame a nasty roster.

LOL!! Hen or Roo?
