The Middle Tennessee Thread

Well, I put the chick starter out and we're ready for the hatch. Can't wait to see these little chickies. My son is very excited. He's told all our family and friends they will have to come see his baby chicks when they hatch. Hope to have pics up by Monday. Saturday is the hatch day.

BBS Marans (5), EEs (5) and BBS Ameraucanas (2)...if anyone is interested let me know.

Thanks 1Newegg!

Hey again guys!

Does anyone near me (Crossville) have Muscovy ducks for sale? I can't buy now but want to get some this year when we can afford it. I cannot find any.

I want to make them a big part of our little homestead. Any age is fine. I don't have an incubator so can't hatch eggs.

I want a drake and a few hens to start.

Good Luck on your hatch EconMan I hope ever single egg you have hatches for your boy!
Oh and none of my cochin eggs developed either so I guess my little hen needs a butt fluff trim

Hello everyone!!! I hope June is treating everyone & their feather ones wonderfully! I have had an already amazing month thus resulting in my absence here on BYC~ I will be entering the professional world on Sunday! This position is an amazing opportunity & I am so thrilled to start~ Nervous as I have been a stay at home mom for years, but excited for the benefits this will offer our family

Very best of luck to you!

Ditto...and I know just how you feel!

Question for all the silkie lovers/experts : Splash, black, white, which 2 are the best options for the most color variety in offspring? I am getting 2 pair of silkies this afternoon/evening and need to know soon so any input is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!

Splash x black=100% blue
Splash x Splash=100% splash
Black x Black-100% black
White depends on if it's dominant or recessive if it's dominant you get all white
I would personally get black and splash keep a blue then blue to Blue is 50% blue 25% splash 25% black so with BBS you get the most variety without mixing genetics
Then Blue x Splash-50/50 blue and splash
Blue x Black 50/50 blue and black
Second pair would be white because my kids like white silkies..very scientific

Those genetics are for all breeds with the BBS genetics
