40 new chicks!!! I feel kind of pitiful with my four. Ha!!!

I may end up waiting until next spring and trying to btu some Wheaton ameraucana hatching eggs. It would be awful fun to slip them under a hen and watch her raise some babies. We'd be rollingbthe dice as far as ending up with a roo and having to part with it, but there's really nothingblike watching a mama hen with her chicks. I'd love my kids to experience that.

I'm afraid to buy any started chicks off craigslist and risk introducing disease to our tiny flock. My 6 year old would be devastated if something happened to his chickens!!!

Tracyree don't buy from Craigslist. Buy here local. Just pick up at the farm and check out the facilities. If they are not up to your standards or the birds look sick don't buy. Lot's of people on here are NPIP as well. That is a plus. But still quarantine for 2 weeks when you get them home. You should be fine that way.

On another note...................
Why do the hens just keep laying?????????????? Do they not realize I am so pushing my chicken limit. Still I filled up another bator today. Oh well.....l anyone need chicks? It seems I can't find the off button on the 3 bators.

Holly I love your new fuzzy butts!

I'm going to cut my EE flock in about half so if anyone wants some pretty minty egg layers I have several laying now and 3 that will be by fall...also 1 black Ameraucana hen,
Still have a Mille Fleur Cochin pair for sale, lots of Bantam Cochins including laying hens, new hatch EE and a few new hatch Wheaten Ameraucana Moron my beautiful FBCM is available he just broke the tip off his top beak arguing with my old roo other than that he's beautiful he can have attitude sometimes-hence the name

Holly you don't by chance want to have a little black bantam Cochin cockerel do you?

My hubby picked him up at the Newport show and he has no girls here. Caught him hopping on the VERY young silkie pullets yesterday. If not how much for a couple hens? Blue or black is preferred! Oh guys I also have Corrin Witts line of white bantam white leghorns if anyone is interested.

I am looking for a solid black boy but he's got to be National level sq..I know what can I say.I think I have one being worked out that I can pick up at Crossroads in Oct. None of the hens I will part with are sq but also not hatchery.1 is solid black and all the others are mottled

If anyone is interested in Holly's Moron he is from my stock of Marans , he is pure Wade from Bethel Plantation (Ruth on here) straight from Jessie Bryant's stock. He is very very nice.

Oh I don't plan on showing the Cochins (at this time). The Showgirls get ALL my free time! They are my focus. I like the other chickens but if it is not a well bred Showgirl it is just a chicken in my book. Not trying to offend anyone at all. But they are my pride and joy.
No way this little guy is near the quality you are looking for. I was just wanting him to have a good home. He can continue to free range here I guess.

I will try and make the meet up but I am having a minor surgery and may not be able to attend. I do hope I can, I would love to meet everyone.

Hey everyone. Hope you are all doin' well. I was just like tracy the other day, " where is everybody? ". But since then, I've been busy as all get out.
As far as my cochin banty eggs, tomorrow is the 7 day mark and I've got 9/14 swimming around like baby ducks.

My main source of disappointment in it is that all 4 of the mille fleur callicos had to come out, they just weren't developing at all. Guess I'll try one more time after these hatch out, might set a couple turkeys too.
