New to this thread, I am in middle TN between Clarksville and Springfield. Is there a poultry meet in this area sometime? I am looking for a tom turkey, havent had much luck.

Morning everyone!

I never thought I would be so happy to be cold and WET!!! LOL!!! Doesn't it just feel great after all that hot and dry! Yesterday my neighbor's duck was cackling up a storm - - no wait, that was me. Anyhoo, the duck and I both flapped around out in the rain, just as happy as can be.

I'm not sure the chickens are so happy about the rain, but I think they are relieved to have the temps drop. I started shooing birds inside last night instead of letting them sleep on the coop porches . . .


CityGirl, so sorry to hear about your poor broody hen. That stinks. I was putting frozen water bottles in with my silkies at night and using fans, etc. Mine really had a hard time in the heat this year. What a crummy run of hot weather that was. Hope the rest of your birds are doing well.

Holly, glad to hear your blue pullet story ended well! I can just see you and that dang curly cochin walking around in the rain clucking together, LOL! You are something else, girl!

I forgot to say I had one silkie hen laying 7 mos old...only been laying about a month...now she is broody...

my first broody ....I am not sure how many eggs she has but she decided while i was gone this weekend to start. My DH thought something was wrong with her... I said nope she is wanting to hatch some eggs. I was told I brought the heat up North until sunday it was cooler....now it is here

...I am like Jenski It feels so much better than the 100 degrees and dry.

I have been lucky I think only because mine are all new..

Matlock I know what you mean....the chickens all perked up when they seen me

....or was it all the treats i had LOL either way i made them happy!!!
