Awww... that STINKS!! We had a ton of those buff eggs too. How sad that we only got two to live. Grrrrr! Maybe both of these will be boys. Wouldn't that rock!

The chicks are at the mangy, hard-to-photograph phase. I took these this weekend though. This is the two buffs, the black and the random blue AM.



This is the little black. It is substantially smaller than the others. Of course, it came from a substantially smaller egg too.




All five in that lot.


The one on the left is the freaky little black/lav split. It's got a great personality, but it's a little strange looking. The one in front is, of course, the buff. I'm thinking this one is male if only because it is so much more aggressive than the other.

I have silver laced wyandottes and Light Brahmas, i can prolly get the eggs out of the slw, but havent had an egg out of the light brahmas yet.

My baby chicks will be arriving from Meyers Hatchery in the next few days can't hardly wait .

I love Meyers, They have good customer service, they aend extras, and havent had a prob with chicks dying. Mine was extremely healthy. And pretty nice quality for a hatchery. Rhodies wasnt dark wnought for me. But thwir barred rocks are nice. And thw golden comwta are fun.

First they don't lay then they cover you up!! I have Black and Blue Copper Marans, Blue, Black, and Splash Marans, and Golden Cuckoo Marans eggs.
So your choice any combo $20.00 a dozen on these. You can pick up or pay extra for shipping. I live in Carthage and work in Sparta. I really don't want to eat these!

That Golden Cuckoo Maran is beautiful. I wish I had a maran pullet or two - but I've already hatched out a bunch of boys I've got to rehome. So I'll have to pass this time. Beautiful birds, though!

Fingers crossed that you get some out! Did you see the pictures I posted of the AM babies that hatched this past weekend?

My power flickered this morning and I instantly went into panic mode. Then I remembered that the bator is currently empty.

My power was out for hours and I had three batches in the bator. I didn't have a good hatch but I did get 12 new babies. 6 hatched so far today

3 EE, 2 Leghorn/AM crosses and 1 Lav Split Am. I still have hope for more. Put 2 SLW and 15 RIR in lockdown today too. The old incubator is now EMPTY and off, kinda retired now..... I will try to convert it over to flexwatt and the new digital thermostat so it will work better. Going to let Philip use it through the spring and fall.

I am getting almost 30 eggs a day now... I can't just let them not get hatched can I???? Well some I can not hatch.

Lori, I am going to be moving your girls back in with your black roo soon. I will let you know. How long you want me to wait to start collecting? I was going to put my 2 lav pullets in with the lav roo and move the black pullets in with him. Today I came in and found they had pecked a bald spot the size of a half dollar or bigger. Now she will have to wait to go to the breeding pen. No biggie since she is not laying yet. She was scared to death. She is now in a pen alone with roosters all around her vying for her attention

When she heals up I will move her to the back with her sister. That will be nice to start having some PURE Lavender hatches.

All 3 of my Wheatens are laying now! I have been getting 2 eggs a day for awhile and today I got 3

Now to get that little roo out of quarantine so he can move in with his new girls and I can start hatching Wheatens.
