Donna or anyone, what do you do to break a broody hen? I dont have room to do the cage thing, unless a dog crate will work. It is mostly closed with a metal grate door. I tried ice packs, she swapped nest. I removed her from the nest several times, no luck I finally gave her 3 eggs. Unfortunately she's my 1 blue marans hen & I didn't have any of her eggs.:( so she's sitting on 1 ee, 1 SLW, & 1 br. Any ideas for next time appreciated.

Awww she is adorable! She says eggie, I say lets hatch that bad boy and hug a chickie!

I move mine to new pens and that usually will break them. A new roo too is even better. The more activity around her the quicker she will break.

So need another coop & more chickens ? Sounds reasonable to me, boy are the neighbors gonna be happy.

Let me know.... I have LOTS of BLRW Roos and 1 straight combed BLRW pullet. They are young still so you have time

I have two Black EO pullets for sale these are my two biggest gals almost 6 months old. 50 bucks for both. Gotta make room for some blues in there.
pictures please! I may only have one left for breeding. 1 looks to have some major tail issues.

where did you get these from?

Got a question......I went away for a few days and while I was gone my daughter says the 2 pullets that lay have stopped laying in the nesting boxes, they have made a nest UNDER the boxes and are laying in it.....what's with that. I think they missed me and are rebelling....LOL.....in fact when I let them out this morning my talker, the copper maran I got from Donna just followed me around talking and talking and talking. I had to stop and pet her and listen to her get it off her chest, then she started eating. It will be interesting to see if she goes back in the box today.
Also, my 2 pullets that had laid for months and then stopped when it got cooler at night still haven't gone back to laying.....will they, or are they shut down until Spring.....perfectly healthy, good eaters, checked regularly and are fine otherwise....
