ah, ok, now I get it...the standard IS feathered legs, and the ones without are considered to be at fault. Makes sense now as why there was emphasis placed on that quality. I was only thinking of how difficult the silkies were when dealing with free range birds with feathered legs, and thinking how much easier it would be on me if they did not have them. The one marans I have has no feathers and I am happy with it, but then again, I do not show...yet. Not saying I wont, as I remember from 4-H how much prep and pressure is involved. If I get some black english orpingtons to breed into lavender, then it might be worth looking into showing later though.
