Update on my Black Orpington she is fine and back out with her flock. Apparently she heard how spoiled you get in the house and how nice and warm it was and decided she wanted to try it out

on a diff note the family and i cant seem to stay away from TSC chick days. So in the past 2 weeks i have picked up 3 RIR, 2 Speckled Sussex, 6 Golden Comets, 8 Brown Leghorns, 2 Silver Seabrights, 2 Silkies, 1 Bantam Cochin, and 1 Bantam Mystery chick. Must resist going back to TSC. Oh and i also set 41 Golden Comet eggs in the bator today for a neighbor.

Where did you get the sebrights? We just lost ours and I really want some more. Which TSC? We're they in with mixed bantams and you picked them out or do they have that many varieties by you?

My TSC only has Red Sexlinks and WL... they never have the fancy chicks.... my neighbor is dieing to get some silver seabrights.

Hello all! I'm new to BackyardChickens.com and new to backyard chickens in general. We live practically in downtown Nashville (8th south for those of you who know the area) so many of our neighbors think we are crazy. But they have thought that for 8 years so why try to change it? We just got chicks last weekend and in the process of building the coop today. The family is very excited and we have quite a little variety going.

Sadly, we lost one yesterday and learned a hard lesson about checking on them frequently. We aren't fully sure why. It was acting fine when we went to bed. My wife on them after lunch and our week old cinnamon queen was laying on her side listless. When my wife called me at work I walked her through checking for and cleaning pasty butt but it was too late. She got it cleaned up and it died within the hour anyway. I grabbed some medicated chick starter and we changed out the brooder as a precaution to protect the others.

We are going to try and get a replacement today. TSC sells in minimum of six. Are there any other places to grab one or two birds at a time? our other chicks range from 1.5 to 3 weeks old so I would actually prefer one a few weeks old so that is acclimates better to the others.

I have 2 marans that are broody and I have 3 nest boxes. More often than not I find 2-3 girls in only the 2 nest boxes the broodies use. I almost NEVER find a pullet or egg in the middle nest box. They have their spot and nothing else will do.

It's true, out of the 6 boxes they all prefer this one....this morning there were 4 eggs in that nesting box they all used it. Which is probably what they were all screaching about...telling the others to share...LOL

There is no minimum at the Franklin co-op....quite a drive for you though. ....also check Poultry House.

Another though is to call other other TSC outside of Nashville and see if they have a minimum. There is a Co-op on Dickerson Road in Nashville... they may not have a minimum. The Poultry House might be out at Bonnies Barnyard today but that is in Triune... nice drive though. There is a Feed Mill in Pleasant View and Edwards Feed in Lebanon.

Franklin Ky TSC and they were in a mixed bantam bin but i know what they look like as chicks

Now I'm in a place where I can have chickens again and I'm so excited and cannot wait to get started. My DH has already said he would like to build me a coop at which I was somewhat surprised and extremely delighted by!

I would like to have 9 hens total consisting of 3 Buff orpingtons, 3 Speckled Sussexes, 2 Red Stars and 1 Blue or Speckled Cochin...and maybe a Barred Rock but I haven't decided yet. The problem is I don't know where to get them from...I would like to find somewhere local to aquire them if possible.Does anybody kow where I could get them? I could drive some if need be

Welcome.......That is a mixed flock I would think about that......., If you stick to one breed you can sell hatching eggs and baby chicks...... Lots of people on here have chickens to sell,...... all I have is Silkie Chicks And Bantam Barred Rocks .
