Hello all,
I just recently was told about this section of BYC so decided it was time to join instead of just reading up about others experiences. Was not expecting there to be a group of people close enough to me so I would not have to rely on craigslist. I am not new to chickens, but am new to investing in some that tractor supply and the co op do not offer each year. That being said, I would like to take it a step further and find someone near me to hatch some eggs, as I have yet to invest in a good incubator. If you could be so kind as to recomend someone in the Bethpage or even Gallatin are who has a good hatch rate and enough room to hatch for a fee, I would really appreciate it.
Also, wanted to say hello to Donna, as I bought some black split lavender ameraucana, leghorn, and one black copper marans chick from you last year when we met in Hendersonville. After recomending Edwards to me, I have been buying all of my feed there for both the chickens and goats, as they carry non medicated feed for dairy goats which my little fainters love. Unfortunatly most of my flock was taken by predators this past year before I got a couple of LGDs....best addition to the farm I have ever had, as we have not lost one animal since they arrived. The only problem is that by the time we traded for them, we only had two of the ameracauna, one lavender orpington, and the lone marans left. Have since found two lavender cocks who still need to mature, but at least I am starting to rebuild a bit.
This year I would like to add some more of the three breeds I have, as well as get some silkies as well. I just know I can never be happy with the co op birds again now that i have started down the rabbit hole.
