I have a Moscovy duck that just went broody. She started off with 5 eggs, now she has 10. We have cut it off at 10. I have no idea if any will hatch. She got off the next dr a while the first couple of days. I think I will candle them next week. This is exciting!
Can't wait to see if they hatch. The island I grew up on in Florida had tons of muscovys that lived on the golf course behind us. When I was about 7 years old I got in BIG trouble because when they came over to be fed one day I let them in the back patio so they could go for a swim in our pool.

I just felt bad that the poor babies were swimming in icky pond water with alligators that caught them and ate them and golf balls constantly bonking them in the head. I thought I was being nice. Mom and dad didn't see it that way when they got the bill from the pool cleaning guy.

Cinny do you have any older chicks right now.... like 10 weekish? If so I have some Olive Eggers that ARE pullets 3-4. One could be a marans not 100% on her. They came from blue eggs I hatched from KYTinpusher. The egg color was really pretty. Not sure how dark of an egg color the roo had but they should be Olive Eggers. All have pea combs except the one that might be a Marans.

PM me if that would work.... I just put them on CL with my GNH's. I am going though all my brooders and will be adding chicks as I find them to sell. I MUST clean out my brooders. I have 40 chicks coming from Paul Smith next week and 20 or so coming from Dick Horstman too.... plus the HUNDRED or so in the hatcher now

Note to self DON'T HATCH SO MUCH NEXT YEAR. YOU CAN'T COMPETE WITH TSC and $1 chicks when they don't want to keep them.

Hatch in the fall and sell the pullets.
Hey....don't have any chicks right now.....getting them on the 30th or 1st.....wish I did, you know how much I want an olive egger.....and as for TSC, last time I was in there just looking at the chicks while getting feed a young guy working there told me I shouldn't get any of them they were "acting funny"....that was scary....and they had a lot of them.....never have to worry about that with your chickens.

Quote: Knowing what I know about chickens... it would scare me to death to get chicks from the feed store. Everyone playing with them and bringing all the stuff from their chickens into the feed store chickens.

I am a germ-a-phob anyway but I don't think I could do that from a feed store. I haven't yet....

Is that why you wouldn't give me a hug?;). just kidding. But I never would have figured you for a germ-a-phob.

I just heard a warning we are getting 2-3 more inches of HEAVY rain

I hope our road in the back does not get washed away. We had to clear the drain pipe today so maybe it will not get clogged up again

I think we got 4 inches at the farm already. Poor chickens.... muddy eggs for a week too

Tornado warning and heavy rain here in Cunningham too. The creek in front of our house is pretty high. Stay safe everyone.
