The Middle Tennessee Thread

Hey there y'all.
Brand new to BYC forum, and owning chickens in general. Actually I'm new to Middle Tennessee too! I'm a transplant from New England and moved down here for work.
Currently I have four RIR chickens that are around six-weeks-old and have just moved into their grown-up coop!

Anyway, glad to meet everyone here!

and the thread!!

I just got a couple turkey eggs last Sunday from a friend how long do you incubate them?

The rule of thumb is 28 days. I've hatched turkeys twice and both times they hatched on day 25-26. These are about half done. I was candling because my digital thermo had a high of 108 recorded yesterday. I was afraid they would be goners so I was only checking for movement. I saw that on my first one so I just put it back and didn't check any of the others. I tried to get it to do it again so the first lady could take a pic of it, but that didn't happen. It moved plenty but didn't do the feet thing again.

Is there an online version of the SOP? I would like to get a physical book, but I've only seen them for $80+ am I missing something?
Not a current edition but the out of copy write ones are online. Basically the info is the same. Some newer breeds will not be in it and the pic are not in color. The first 40 pages are the key. I bite the bullet and bought one a couple of years ago from the APA site. Great book and worth the money.
