got 36 more eggs in today!!! YAY!!! that is a total of 76...YES...76 EGGS!!! They will all be going in the bator tomorrow!!
Yep I'm going crazy LOL!!!

Here is what is going in the bator!

14 Lavs and 15 BBS from Jeff Horn!!!
6 Lavs from Joan Waller!!
20 Jubilee from Chris West
20 Jubilee from Jonathan Stone and Holly Barnes-Wallis!!

all are 100% English Orpingtons!!

I cant wait to see all of these babies!!!

So I counted today and it's 11 baby chicks that we had no idea about.
I also have 6 Roos out of the 26 silver sebrights. I am gonna take a trio to the auction in May. Then sell the rest cause I have 40 more 3 week old seabrights lol.

I wanted to introduce myself. I've got a mini farm in Dickson (emphasis on "mini")! We've had a mixed flock of chickens for years but I've decided to focus on raising 3 or 4 breeds. I would like to show them eventually.

I have black tailed buff marans and partridge brahma eggs incubating and I'm getting a pair of blue silkies next week. I'm also getting bantam cochin eggs next week. We are just getting started but I'm hoping next year we will have hatching eggs and chicks for sale!

We are neighbors... I live in White Bluff. What kind of bantam cochins are you getting? I found a lady in Ga. who sells hatching eggs for the mille fleur color pattern for 45 dollars per dozen, shipping included. I used to have a large variety of luckypickens from BYCs cochins, but I had to rehome them all a couple years ago. We had a frizzled mottle rooster that was awesome.
By the by, there will be a poultry swap/meetup of the members from this forum on Saturday, the 26th in Dickson. Unfortunately I won't be going because my son has a 4H event that day, but several people who post on here often seem to be going.

Sure thing. Started with an Oatmeal canister spray painted black. Add a ceramic light fixture mounted on a plywood disk, attached to an old Christmas village power cord. (fixture is $1.47 at Home Depot). Install a 120 watt CFL for high light, low heat. Assemble the pieces. Note- I pulled the cord through a little hole in the bottom of the canister before attaching to the fixture base. Then cut a hole in the lid, add an egg, turn out the lights, turn on your candler. I am working on a little brooder project next using an old shipping crate from work.
so glad you shared. I Jerryrigged my own version. I started with a pringles can. Put a hole in the tin end big enough for my small flashlight. I then covered the lid with electrical tape to make it dark and put a hole in it. I did also cut the can in half so it was not as tall. It works well. We just make a brooder from a shipping crate we bought.

I would be interested in a trio, what is the price?
