Hello!

I'm new to chickens! I started with two speckled sussex pullets a few weeks ago but just lost one this morning Her eyes swelled shut and she was gone before I could do anything! Does anyone know if chickens get lonely? Will my last girl be ok by herself or does she need a friend? And is there a chance she could get whatever happened to the other?? Would appreciate any and all info anyone can give me!!

Yellow Laura! Yes your other chicken could have the same thing. Watch her for 30 days. If she is ok after that you need to get her a friend. What part of TN are you in? I have a pretty SS pullet that I really don't need to keep anymore. If your other girl is ok in a few weeks and if you are close enough we can work out something. I don't plan to put her on craigslist anytime soon. I would like a few eggs from her before I send her on her way.

I am in Clarksville! I will keep a close eye on her. Is there anything I can do for it that you know of? When I googled it the thing I saw the most was VetRx if it was eyeworms but I'm not even sure if that's what it was or not. I really don't want to lose her. I appreciate your offer and I will definitely take you up on it if she continues to stay well.

I'm am really struggling with wanting to keep more cockerels than I need. I love all these chickens. Having a stressful job, chicken tv really helps to relax. Anyone looking for a frizzled bantam cochin? I have two. He is black/dark blue going on 5 months old. He is sweet and quite comical. I need a large farm and winning the lottery would be helpful.
