Pop quiz! Found this little nugget on my droppings board this morning! Did someone pass their ovary?! Lol what the heck is this?

Wow, that is odd, does someone know what it is? I don't!

Hi. Well soaking her doesn't seem to be giving her any relief so far. Will keep at it, but she's looking more and more uncomfortable.:(

This may sound odd, but you need to relieve the pressure, and the only way I've found works, if it's that bad, is to try and get it out. While soaking her in very warm water, gently massage the swollen area.
The goal is, if she's egg bound, you can help her get the egg out, or at lest get it to where she can push it out, and if it's some other form of blockage, you'll loosen it and she'll (hopefully) be able to push it out. For me, this has worked for more serious cases, so it may work for you.

I've had something similar happen, that turned out to be a mislaid egg, but that one looks much darker, could you cut it open? That way we'll see exactly what's up! Cause I'm not sure... :/

Yes, I have been massaging as well as soaking. Nothing is coming out with that not even poop. It seems very painful for her when I do the massage. Now she just lays and pants, I feel so bad for her suffering.

I am in Clarksville! I will keep a close eye on her. Is there anything I can do for it that you know of? When I googled it the thing I saw the most was VetRx if it was eyeworms but I'm not even sure if that's what it was or not. I really don't want to lose her. I appreciate your offer and I will definitely take you up on it if she continues to stay well.

Hi Laura,
I am in Clarksville too. If you need him, there is a vet in Dover who I took a hen to last spring after a dog got in my yard and mauled her. The hen came through great & I would recommend Dr, jarod Johnson @ North Stewart Vet Clinic (931-232-9900). the vets in town here don't see domestic fowl, only exotics, how crazy is that? best of luck.

I have not been on in a while, but one of my hens is seriously broody (no roosters here...) wondered if anyone could spare a couple of hatching eggs? I would just like to see what will happen, if she will set them or not, etc. I'm a first-time chicken keeper & enjoying learning how these birds work.
Thanks.

One of my friend's barnvelder pullets just crowed. They are heartbroken as he is much loved. I told her I would ask around for her. All I know is that he is 4.5 months old and they want him to be a pet, not dinner. I think he is free to a good home.
