The Middle Tennessee Thread

I worm regularly and have had no issues with it. I use Fenbendazole (Panacur/Safeguard) in the water most times, but twice a year I hit everybody with a dose of Eprinex between the shoulder blades for internal and external parasites. If you have turkeys and chickens, deworming is really important. Histoplamosis causes fatal BlackHead in turkeys. It is a protozoa that lives in the liver fluke (worm) of the turkey, and is carried by chickens, who don't seem to be troubled by it. Deworming with fenbendazole kills the liver fluke and removes the 'home' of the histo in turkeys. Histo is common in this area, but in all my years of raising turkeys I have never had one affected by it. I like to think it's because I keep them dewormed.
Most people think Wazine is a good poultry dewormer, but it's really not. It doesn't get many species of internal parasites in poultry. I have also tried pumpkin seeds and DE and have not had any luck using those as dewormers. I don't think DE kills external parasites either...and it can be fatal in ducks.

What are you going to use when you have to get a script for those wormers?.... not sure when that will happen I think 2017.

I am a licensed veterinarian so no problem there! :) I will also be happy to dispense poultry meds to Middle TN folks in necessary situations once a valid client-patient relationship is established...which will be easy between the swaps and such going on here! But truly, I don't think that legislation will ever pass.
As a side note on this topic, our veterinary website is about to launch a livestock online store for medications, supplies, etc. and the prices are mostly cheaper than you will find anywhere in stores or on the internet. Shipping is free if you buy over $38. I'll post the link here once it's up and running! We already have a dog and cat online store with awesome prices, especially on flea control and Royal Canin and Hill's pet foods, with free shipping over $38.

Hi all,
I'm hoping to find a place for a pretty silkie red rooster that is living in my yard. I have dogs and there are wild animals and Hawks around, so I can't keep him. Anyone have any ideas on where to take him? His picture is my avatar. Any help appreciated!

He's a pretty bird. If you advertise him with a $15-20 re-homing fee on Craigslist, he should find a safe home. There are plenty of silky lovers in Middle TN.

Good morning! It's a beautiful day in Nashville! Spring's coming... Does anyone have any experience with Poultry Hollow? In researching places in middle TN to buy chicks to begin my 'farm' I ran across them. Feel free to PM is you prefer. Thank you!

I think you will hear mixed reviews. Personally with mixed reviews I would avoid them.
