The Middle Tennessee Thread

Well it was an auction. Lot's of animals stuffed into tiny homemade boxes without water. I couldn't and wouldn't put my babies through that it is hard enough to let them go much less in that manner. I do have a blue pair of silkies if anyone is interested. The girl is laying the boy is a bit young for rooster rides just yet. Cockerel is from CJexoctics and the pullet Cathy Duckett. And a couple of Dark Blue 6 wk babies. I went pretty much to get out of the house and feel the sunshine. Which btw it appears we are out of winter by the 10 day forecast. This is so great and came at a great time for me. I am so ready to kick these babies out of the house and do some spring cleaning/dusting. Coop cleaning this week as well things got backed up when Granny started getting sick.
It was great seeing you again Jennifer and wonderful to meet you Okla doodle doo. Congrats on your new roo glad you saved him. Love the pics banjoejoe4783.

Show in Newnan next weekend. Not showing just too far and I don't like overnight shows anyway, but picking up 2 chicks from Judy King. Anyone want to ride down with and split the cost we can stay overnight or not I don't care just don't want to do the ride solo. I also have a friend we can stay with if the hotel is an issue.

Morning all! I got home yesterday afternoon just in time for feeding my critters, and then it was time to sit on the patio with a nice big glass of wine and enjoy the weather before the sun went down. I don't get away very often, so I sure did miss my animals by the time I got home! It was heaven to sit in the banty pen and watch the little fluffies scratching around in the straw. They just love to chat. I feel sure that sitting in a chicken pen lowers the blood pressure, reduces body toxins, generates health and well-being, and contributes to world peace.

I'd like to send out a big THANK YOU to Okla-DD for kindly letting me tag along yesterday. It was my first auction, and it was nice to get out into farm country on a nice sunny day. OklaDD is a great chicken buddy, and a great storehouse of knowledge too! I picked his brain for hours and he never once complained.

Now I'm ready to build a pigeon loft, LOL! And a goat barn. And a pig house. And a cow shed. CityGirl, HELP ME!!!! Find me a farm!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!

Oh rats. A blowup before I finished my first coffee. Ahem . . .

Anyhoo, after further observation, foot cleaning, massaging, and other miscellaneous unwelcomed attention, I find that my little bantam cochin roo's foot seems to be better now. Maybe he just landed on it wrong when it was so cold outside. In any case, Bonaparte is feeling much better now, and he is catching up on all the crowing he missed when his foot was hurting.

banjoejoe, nice birds! Thanks for sharing those pics.

Holly, I'll PM you re. cookies. . . . . mmmmm, cookies . . . .

It is a great day to get ready for spring projects, and a GREAT day to muck out all the thawed pens! Hooray! Good times.

Hope you all have a fun, productive Sunday!

Hello! New to the chicken experience (my first chicks come next month
ya.gif
) and I have a question: I've lurked on this thread, noticed people talking about auctions and was wondering how to find out about the next auction. I live in the city and can only have a small number of chickens but I'd love to at least see an auction.

Thank you!

Good morning all you middle Tennesseers! All my girls came through the cold with no problems. I haven't had an egg in weeks, though. Really miss picking up eggs. Of course as cold as it has been it is probably a good thing, since they would just freeze on the days I work anyway. I am really getting the urge to start on my second coop/run for the silver laced wyandottes I want to get this spring. I keep going to Foleys and Paul's Poultry web sites just to look at the pictures. I can't start on it this week because I am going to Arkansas to spend a week with my mom. After that I will have all my spare time taken up by trailriding and coop/run building. I would love to go to some auctions and chicken shows, too. So many things to do, so little time! I am at work now, looking out the office window at all the glorious sun...and the ER just called so...off to work! Have a great day everyone!

Dang, and I leave tomorrow for a week with my Mom in Arkansas...hmmm...think a drive to KY would be too out of the way? Think if I took them to my Mom's she would think they were a housewarming gift?
